Los Feliz Votes
Bill Meincke

My name is Bill Meincke, and I’m a journalist and communications professional dedicated to helping communities turn ideas into actionable solutions. Through my reporting, work in mental health, and advocacy for environmental preservation, I’ve seen firsthand how collaboration and effective communication can drive real change. I aim to bring this same commitment to the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council, ensuring that residents feel heard, informed, and empowered to shape the future of our community.
I’m particularly passionate about several key priorities, including:
- Creating new opportunities for open space in Los Feliz, such as community parks and green areas that enhance public well-being.
- Expanding affordable housing and strengthening tenant rights to maintain an inclusive and welcoming neighborhood.
- Addressing homelessness with evidence-based, compassionate solutions, focusing on long-term housing and support services.
- Improving walkability and public transit access to make our streets safer and better connected.
- Prioritizing mental health and overall well-being, drawing from my three years of experience in mental health services and assisting veterans with PTSD.
- Ensuring that government operates transparently and is accessible, allowing residents to engage with local decision-making and advocate for their needs.
In my role as Communications Specialist for the Coastal Corridor Alliance, I work closely with community members, Tribal Nations, and elected officials to protect open spaces and advocate for responsible development. I actively promote community workshops like those I helped create to turn the former Banning Ranch Oil Field into a preserve for local residents. My journalism has tackled issues ranging from housing and small businesses, like Yuca's and Skylight Books, to environmental policy, reproductive rights, and city government, always amplifying the voices of those most affected.
I envision neighborhood councils as spaces where residents are valued and can see their ideas come to life. I would love to leverage my experience in storytelling, digital communication, and advocacy to elevate local voices and drive meaningful change within the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council. I look forward to connecting with you to explore how I can best serve our community.
